CASE #402: THE MIDNIGHT HEIST

Status: CLOSED / CONVICTED

BURGLARY

Incident Logistics

  • LOCATION: Mumbai, Maharashtra
  • YEAR: 2023
  • OFFENSE: Housebreaking & Theft (Section 380 IPC)
  • ENTRY POINT: Second-floor Balcony

"The perpetrators showed advanced knowledge of the family's itinerary. No signs of forced entry on the main door. Suspects used 'Digital Reconnaissance' to confirm the premises were vacant."

II. Investigation Narrative

Phase 1 (The Surveillance): The criminal gang targeted "high-value" neighborhoods. Instead of physical stalking, they monitored social media location tags and 'Check-ins'.

Phase 2 (The Trigger): The victim posted a photo from an airport lounge with the caption "Off to Europe for 10 days!". This provided the thieves with a guaranteed window of opportunity.

Phase 3 (The Execution): On the third night of the vacation, two masked individuals scaled the perimeter. They disabled the Wi-Fi-based security cameras using a signal jammer—a common tool in modern organized burglary.
